Exhibition Trailer “Mohamed Bourouissa – Pour Noubia”

In his work, Algerian-born, Paris-based artist Mohamed Bourouissa addresses the consequences of colonialism, exile, and social inequality. The exhibition at Marta Herford traces a journey from Germany through the Parisian suburbs to the artist’s Algerian homeland. At the heart of the solo show is an AI-supported cinematic homage to his aunt Noubia, which tells the story of her self-determined path to independence, from her time as a sex worker in Algeria, through migration, to her life in Osnabrück. In addition, new and older works by Bourouissa are presented, including pieces specifically developed for the museum’s architecture or shown for the first time. With “Pour Noubia,” Marta Herford dedicates its most extensive exhibition in Germany to Mohamed Bourouissa to date.
