With her aluminum object Hydrothermal Potential (Loki’s Castle), Katja Novitskova references the deep-sea hydrothermal vent Loki’s Castle, discovered in 2005 between Greenland and Norway. The seabed there is home to an exceptionally diverse range of microorganisms. The artist engages with this research topic, which is not only of significant scientific and ecological importance but also holds economic potential.
