DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of Ingrid Wiener’s exhibition\, author Carolin Würfel will read from her book “Ingrid Wiener and the Art of Liberation”\, published in 2019. The biographical portrait documents the author’s encounter with the artist and chef Ingrid Wiener and offers insights into the eventful life of a fascinating personality.  \n“Take your child out of school; her appearance distracts students from learning!” It’s 1960s Vienna\, and Ingrid Wiener’s parents follow the teacher’s advice. But an act of obedience turns into a story of rebellion: Ingrid joins a group of famous artists. After scandalous protests\, she flees with the men to Berlin\, where they establish the legendary “Exil”. Her kitchen soon attracts stars like David Bowie\, Peter O’Toole\, and Max Frisch. Who is this woman\, for whom men made space in their midst\, and who at the same time resolutely pursued her own path as an artist? Carolin Würfel revives the extraordinary atmosphere of that era and paints the portrait of an inspiring female figure. (Blurb)        \nCarolin Würfel\, born in Leipzig in 1986\, studied history and journalism in Berlin and Istanbul. She works as a freelance author and journalist\, particularly for the weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT. In 2019\, “Ingrid Wiener and the Art of Liberation” was published as the first of the author’s three books to date.   \nThe talk following the reading\, featuring Dirk Strehl (Auslese Bookstore) and Kathleen Rahn (Director of Marta Herford)\, invites reflection on Wiener’s multifaceted biography in connection with her complex artistic work. Additionally\, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversation with the author.  \nBooks can be purchased and signed at the Auslese Bookstore’s book table. The prize\, endowed with 50\,000 Euros\, enables the acquisition of three works by artist Kerstin Brätsch for the Marta collection. We cordially invite you and your friends to the festive award ceremony and a viewing of the site-specific installation in the Marta Café. \nWithin the curved Gehry architecture\, a large-format wallpaper (“MƎTA Rorschach”\, 2024) is combined with two stucco marmo works from the series “Fossil Psychic_for Christa (Stucco Marmo)”\, 2020. These three works\, acquired through the Tiemann Prize\, are complemented by further paper works by the artist. SUMMARY:City + Vision - Herford Architecture Talks
DESCRIPTION:Since 2013\, the “Herford Architecture Talks” have addressed ideas and visions of urban life as well as current issues in architecture and urban planning – a stimulating evening with renowned and influential personalities\, not just for architects! \nCity + Vision 45 – Herford Architecture Talks with a keynote lecture by Sarah Behrens and Ina Westheiden / The Baukunst Dynamites\, Stuttgart\, Berlin: COPY & PASTE \nIn the future\, the further development of existing buildings and the ecological building transition will be among the greatest challenges in architecture. How can this transformation be shaped? How can one demonstrate appropriateness towards existing structures while simultaneously developing iconic architecture? How can the principle of Copy and Paste lead to new ideas? What potential lies in the repetition of icons? THE BAUKUNST DYNAMITES will present their unconventional perspectives on these questions for discussion at this architecture evening at Marta Herford.      \nThe internationally active architecture label THE BAUKUNST DYNAMITES was founded in summer 2016. Under the direction of Sarah Behrens and Ina Westheiden\, the design collective works in their studios at Kunstverein Wagenhalle Stuttgart and in Berlin-Kreuzberg at the intersections of architecture\, design\, art\, and theory. Their debut project “DOPPELGÄNGER RELOADED” – the renovation and extension of the Hölzel House in Stuttgart – was awarded the German Design Award and nominated for the DAM Prize 2024. Further projects such as the one-room apartment “WOHNEN MIT MORRIS” or the temporary installation “WAS BLEIBT? WAS KOMMT? WAS GEHT?” as a contribution by the Weissenhof Museum to the IBA‘27 Festival 2023 not only demonstrate unconventional approaches to dealing with existing built structures but also the broad architectural spectrum of the young collective.    \nThe founders gradually built up their independence after their joint architecture studies\, working concurrently in architectural offices\, from 2018–2020 in the research team of the Space Sharing Reallabor located at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart\, and in teaching. Thus\, over the years\, an ever-growing network and exciting collaborations emerged. DESCRIPTION:What do the themes of the exhibition have to do with the lives of people in the region? In a way that is close to everyday life and from various perspectives\, we exchange ideas with local experts on socially relevant issues. This creates space for encounters and surprising thoughts. The focus of this format is on talking together with the visitors.    \nOn November 29\, the Theodora prostitution and exit counseling center will be our guest. Together\, we will watch the film installation “Noubia” by Mohamed Bourouissa in the exhibition\, in which the artist tells the story of his aunt\, who was a sex worker in Osnabrück.
